Clara Kennedy of Washington Ave., Winthrop passed away at the Boston Medical Center on July 21, 2012 after a brief illness. She was 82 years old. Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late Maria (Pecce) and Bernard DiPlecido. She resided in East Boston before moving to Winthrop over 42 years ago. Mrs. Kennedy was employed as a controller for the Hilton Hotel at Logan Airport for many years and was still working up until her illness. She was also a member of the Winthrop Emblem Club.

She was the devoted wife of the late Joseph A. Kennedy and the loving mother of Joseph A. Kennedy II of Byfield and Richard Kennedy of Winthrop. She was the dear sister of Pam Gioioso of Revere and John DiPlecido of Florida. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren.

Funeral from the Ernest P. Caggiano and Son - O'Maley Funeral Home 147 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday, July 27, 2012 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation on Thursday, July 26 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Interment to follow the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
