Diane C. Hayes of Woodside Ave., Winthrop passed away at home on September 1, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old. Born in Winthrop, she was the beloved daughter of the late June A. (Hunter) and Joseph Johnston. A life long resident of Winthrop, she was a 1969 graduate of Winthrop High School. She was employed for many years as an underwriter for an insurance company and also worked for several years as a secretary for the Caggiano Funeral Home. She was the President of the Winthrop Arts Association and the Coordinator for the Winthrop Youth Center.

She was the devoted wife of Thomas Hayes and the loving mother of Zachariah Hayes and his friend Nathan Shields of Winthrop and Eric Mawhinney and his former wife Shelia of Sturbridge. She was the dear sister of Barbara Tufts of Winthrop, Dorothy Graham of West Newfield, Maine, Anne Taylor of West Yarmouth and the late Jayne Johnston. She was the cherished grandmother of Donovan and the close friend of George Ford. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and great nieces.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Saturday, September 5, 2015 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home immediately following the visitation at 11:30 AM.
