George J. Nalen of Golden Drive, Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on October 5, 2015. He was 80 years old. Born in East Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Gertrude (Marshall) and Anthony W. Nalen. A graduate of East Boston High School, he has been a resident of Winthrop for over 52 years. Prior to his retirement he was the proprietor of Viking Carpet Cleaning for many years. He was also a member of the Mean and Clean Motorcycle Club, the Chelsea French Club and the Winthrop Lodge of Elks.

He was the devoted husband of the late Loretta (Dolan) and the loving father of George J. Nalen, Jr. of Citrus Springs, Florida, Donna Boudrow of Derry, New Hampshire, John Nalen of Winthrop, Steven Nalen of Winthrop, Kathy Velardo of Winthrop, Regina Bomarsi of Revere, Anthony Nalen of Everett. Mary Lockyer of Lynn, Lisa Noseworthy of Winthrop and the late Deborah Rockwood. Dear brother of Louis Nalen of New Hampshire and Kathy Roberto of Revere and the late Anthony W. "Sonny" Nalen. Cherished grandfather of 20 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was also the loving companion to Anne Corcoran of Winthrop.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in the Holy Rosary Church 1015 Shirley St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Committal will be private.
