Harold C. Fries of Golden Drive, Winthrop passed away at Chesnut Woods in Saugus on July 30, 2017. He was 80 years old. Born in Boston, he enlisted in the United States Navy at an early age. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as an auto body technician for many years. Hal enjoyed spending his days fishing as often as he could and was an avid hunter, a career ten pin bowler who threw 2 perfect games of 300 and spent most summers at the lake house in Maine. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

He was the devoted husband of the late Nancy Mae (Story) and the loving father of Robert Winter and his wife Paula, Susan McAuley and her husband Ted, Ronald Fries and his wife Jean, Karen Withrow and her husband Richard, Laura Fries and her fiance James Ortiz and Jeffrey Fries and his wife Kelley. Dear brother of Alice Moulton and Carrie Oteri and their families. Cherished grandfather to Christina, TJ, Sean, Colin, Katlyn, Allie, Kyle, Nicole, Joseph, Natalee, Achilles and great grandfather to Sophia. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation at the funeral home on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM followed by a funeral service immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM. Interment to follow the service in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
