Nancy J. DeModena formerly of Winthrop St., Winthrop passed away at the Queen Anne Nursing Home in Hingham on December 21, 2016. She was 98 years old. Born in Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Vincenza (Cuoco) and Giacondo Grifoni. A long time resident of Winthrop, she worked for many years as a hair stylist. She was a late member of the Winthrop Catholic Women's Club and the Cottage Park Yacht Club Ladies Bowling League.

She was the devoted wife of the late Silvio DeModena and the loving mother of Marietta Burns and her husband Richard of Hingham. She was the dear sister of Anthony Grifoni of East Boston, Vincent Grifoni of Peabody and the late Pat Grifoni, Joseph Grifoni, Salvatore Grifoni, Gina Piwowarski, Nicki Turner, Gilda Hallmark and Rosalie Colvin. Cherished grandmother of Robert D. Burns. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
