Glenn H. Carr of Winthrop, MA died March 30th 2024. He was the son of the late E. Gordon Carr and Loretta Carr. He was born in Gardner MA. He graduated from Gardner High in 1967 and received his BA in History from Clark University in 1971. He graduated from the Professional Chef Program at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts in 1986 and was the Executive Pastry Chef at the Boston Marriott Long Wharf.
Glenn was a lover of good food and wine. An avid keeper of plants and flowers, his porch in the summer was always beautifully kept, and many a good meal and conversation were had there. He loved animals, and had many cats throughout his life, all of whom were rescued or adopted. He loved art and was always reading several books at a time. He spent a lot of time at the ocean, usually with an impeccable picnic at hand.
He is deeply missed, and leaves his sister Donna Hollidge, brother-in-law Coburn C. Hollidge, his beloved niece Ellen Rose Cunningham, her husband Geoffrey Cunningham, and grand-nephews Silas Glenn Cunningham and Isaac Cunningham, in addition to a number of close friends who were like family to him.
No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any local humane society in his name.
