Carl W. Halvorsen

Carl W. Halvorsen of Otis St., Winthrop passed away at home on May 20, 2018. He was 88 years old. Born in Boston he was the beloved son of the late Lillian (Williams) and Carl M. Halvorsen. A lifetime resident of Winthrop he was a 1949 graduate of Winthrop High School. A graduate of Massachusetts Maritime Academy he was drafted in the Navy for 2 years being honorably discharged as a lieutenant. He worked in the insurance business for over 20 years. At the age of 50 he he went back to sea with the Oceanographic Survey Ships until he retired in 1997. He was also affiliated with the Masonic Lodges in California and Massachusetts.

He leaves his wife Eleanor Marsh Jackson and 4 step children, 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 1:30 PM.
