James J. Frati

James J. Frati of Cottage Park Rd., Winthrop passed away at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere on September 24, 2018. He was 86 years old. Born in Winthrop he was the beloved son of the late Sylvia (DeGiacomo) and Alexander Frati. A life long resident of Winthrop he was employed as a printer, teaching at the Don Bosco Technical School in Boston. He was a CCD teacher at St. John the Evangelist Church as well as collector at weekend mass. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, former member of the Pleasant Park Yacht Club, former member Winthrop Lodge of Elks, former Band Parent President at Winthrop High School, a water aerobics instructor at the Lynn YMCA and a former scoutmaster for the Winthrop Boy Scouts Troop 78. He was also a member of the Winthrop Council of Aging and the Winthrop Son's of Italy.

He was the devoted husband of Pauline M. (Lawrence) and the loving father of James Frati and his wife Kathleen of Maine, Robert Frati and his wife Sharon of Methuen, Stephen Frati and his wife Veronica of Alaska and the late Richard Frati. Dear brother of the late Mary Frati. Cherished grandfather of Richard, Nicole, Caitlin, Shannon, Molly, John, Michael and Sarah. Also survived by one great grandchild Jordan.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, October 1, 2018 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
