Marjorie Langley Obituary

Langley, Marjorie “Marge” of Winthrop and Woburn passed away peacefully on July 7th at ninety-seven years of age. Marge was the beloved wife of 76 years to the late Edward “Ted” Langley. Devoted mother of Edward J. Langley and wife Barbara of Acton, Kathleen Allenbrook and husband Michael of Florida, Karen Langley and husband Charlie Carr of Methuen, Margery Fuccione and husband John of Burlington. Proud grandmother of Colleen Thompson and husband Jeff, Brian Langley and wife Erin, Ronnie Weafer and wife Anaika, Stefanie Rogers and husband Wayne, Michael Weafer and wife Amy, Quiana Langley-Carr and partner Ivette Fajardo, Kareem Langley-Carr, Carol Fuccione and husband Nick Seagers, Lisa Fuccione and husband Peter Mitchell, predeceased by grandson Edward Langley. She was the great grandmother of Brenden, Peyton, Kennedy, Cooper, Matt, Nora, Chase, Zeia, Auni, Max, Nathan, Olivia, Victoria, Kai, Jackson, Fiona and Colin.

Marge grew up in Arlington, MA where she was the oldest child of Elsie and Horace Aiken. Marge met her friend’s brother, Ted, while in High School and they were married in 1943. After Ted returned from WWII they started their family and moved to Woburn to raise their four children.

Together, Marge and Ted instilled the importance of family in their children, a value that was passed down through all generations. The Woburn home was an inviting and active hub due to Marge’s home making talents. Marge was a skilled gardener and enjoyed serving the vegetables she grew at family dinners. In an age where every meal was cooked at home, she provided simple but delicious food that her family loved to sit and eat together (dessert at every meal). She was a talented and prolific seamstress and craftsperson. From sewing her family’s clothes, to crocheting and knitting, to hooking rugs and reupholstering furniture, there wasn’t much she couldn’t create. Her crocheted bedspreads are treasured by her children and grandchildren.

In addition to raising her four children, Marge took care of so many animals that her husband would bring home – including chickens, ducks, dogs, cats and one favorite goat. Later in life, she was always available to babysit and care for her grandchildren.

Marge had an active and curious mind. She was an avid reader with a love for mystery novels. You could often find her sitting up at night reading one last chapter or finishing up the day with a cup of coffee and a crossword puzzle. She passed her love of card games on to her grandchildren - spending hours playing Rummy, War or Go Fish with them at her kitchen table.

Marge and Ted had a summer home in Winthrop, MA where she was loved by all her neighbors. She believed that “If you were lucky enough to live by the ocean, you were lucky enough.” The Winthrop cottage is the source of great memories including family cook outs, 4th of July celebrations, sing-alongs, and laughter at the kitchen table. “Marge will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.”

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
