Raul Orengo Santiago

Raul Antonio Orengo Santiago of Winthrop passed away unexpectedly on August 29, 2023. He was 51 years old. Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he was the beloved son of Elba (Santiago) and Antonio Orengo. A resident of Winthrop since 2006, he previously resided in Dorchester. Raul attended West Roxbury High School where he played on the football team. He enlisted in the Army and served during Desert Storm reaching the rank of E2. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as a mechanic at Logan Airport.

Raul had a ritual of every Friday night after work he would enjoy a cigar and a glass of brandy. He also enjoyed WWE wrestling along with his son Davis. He and his wife enjoyed traveling together and had a desire to try and visit all 50 states.

Raul was a very well rounded person and cared very deeply for the people in his life.

He was the devoted husband of Dawn M. (Dopp) and the loving father of Kristina Canedo of Maine and Davis Beers of Winthrop. Dear brother of Ismael Hernandez and his wife Daphne Merveille-Hernandez of East Bridgewater, Evalisse Orengo and her husband Santos Galo of Chelsea and Joel Hernadez of East Bridgewater. Cherished grandfather of Benjamin Canedo. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 PM that evening.
