Adelaide Capone of Stamford, Connecticut and formerly of Winthrop passed away at home on March 27, 2018. She was 90 years old. Born in Revere she was the beloved daughter of the late Grace (Hodgkins) and John H. O'Brien. A resident of Winthrop for over 70 years she went to the Boston City Hospital School of nursing and went on to work as a registered nurse for many years. She loved to read and talk politics. She especially loved to travel with her granddaughter Danielle. She enjoyed praying for and taking care of people, friends called her the "Little Pope".
She was the loving mother of Michelle Schonback and her husband David of Stamford, Connecticut. She was the dear sister of the late Joseph O'Brien, Mary Farrell, John O'Brien, Anne Salame, Francis X. O'Brien, Claire Limone and Rita O'Brien. Cherished grandmother of Danielle Garbien and her husband Timothy of Rye, New York. Great grandmother of Adelaide Grace and Timothy MacKinney.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
