Daniel Ashton

Daniel Ashton of Winthrop, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at the age of 68. He was born in New Bedford. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, his two sisters Peg and Sally, his sister-in-law Jane, cousins, nieces, nephews, and an aunt.

Dan graduated from The Swain School of Design, New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1972 with a major in Graphic Design and a minor in Photography. He was president of his class. He did graduate work at Arizona State University, Tempe, Arizona. Dan worked many years as a graphic designer and art editor in higher education and the publishing industry. As a Realtor, he was the organizer of the Winthrop's Nicest Gardens Contest through Seacoast Real Estate and was active in the Chamber of Commerce. Using his design, cooking, and home improvement experience, he designed kitchens for many Home Depot customers. Dan enjoyed living by the ocean and had a wide range of interests, including reading, watercolor painting, antiquing, dogs, history, musical theater, and gardening. He will be missed for his positive outlook, sense of humor, can-do attitude, and generosity.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Friday, November 29, 2019 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The Funeral will be conducted from the St. John's EPISCOPAL Church, corner of Bowdoin and Buchanan Streets, Winthrop, MA. on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 10:00 AM (NOT the big brick Catholic church St. John the Evangelist).
