Dorothea R. (Rizzo) Of Salem (formerly of Boston, Chatham and Marblehead) June 24. Devoted wife of Anthony Fanale. Daughter of Teresa Ciampi Rizzo and Michael Rizzo of East Boston. Dear sister of Beatrice Platt of Winthrop, Michael Rizzo of Winthrop, and the late Barbara Rizzo. Loving aunt of John M. Platt, Barbara Johnson and Cynthia Platt. Great aunt to Caroline Johnson and Charlotte Platt-Miller. Dorothea, known to all as Dorry, had natural sense of grace and elegance. After teaching high school economics for several years, she put her good taste to work by becoming a professional interior designer. She worked for many years at Hillside Design in Saugus before starting her own design business, and no detail was too small for her to overlook. She strived for perfection and beauty in her work and her life and she inspired those around her to do the same. She spent many years enjoying the summer homes on Cape Cod that she and her husband bought and then redesigned. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her two great nieces, and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Committal will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, MA 01923.
