Joseph F. Sheltry

Joseph F. Sheltry of Winthrop passed away on March 2, 2018 (at 83 years of age) peacefully surrounded by his family.  Beloved son of the late Anna M. (Lamont) and Joseph V. Sheltry he grew up in the West End of Boston before moving to Winthrop over 57 years ago. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a driver for Wonder Bread for many years. He was also an Army veteran reaching the rank of PFC and was a member of Union Local 494.

Beloved husband of Claire (Yirrell) for 57 years.  Dear brother of Kathryn Nolan of Randolph, MA. Pre-deceased by daughter Nadine, Brothers Paul Sheltry, and Brother Alexis, C.S.s.R (George), and sister Anne Dooley.

He leaves his beloved children Joseph F. Sheltry and his wife Lorraine of Gales Ferry, CT, Maureen C. Sheltry of Charlestown, MA, and Kenneth F. Sheltry of NH.  He is also survived by six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several loving nieces and nephews.

The family of Joseph "Sonny" wish to thank the entire staff at Queen Anne Nursing Home, Hingham, MA with grateful humility for not only the care given Sonny, but to all of his family.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
