Lawrence J. "Larry" Hughes of Muriel Ave., Wakefield and formerly of Winthrop and Lynn, passed away at the West Roxbury V.A. on July 14, 2017. He was 69 years old. Born in Lynn, he was the beloved son of the late Lorraine (Deveau) and John F. Hughes. At an early age he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during the Vietnam War reaching the rank of Sergeant. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as a Detective for the Winthrop Police Department for many years.

He was the devoted husband of Catherine (Hamilton) and the loving father of Noiyann Hughes and her companion Frank Sprague of Wakefield and Raeleane Randazza and her husband Mike of Gloucester. Stepfather to Kelli Vacirca and her husband Anthony of Saugus, Michael Pisco and his wife Amber of California and Kristin Pisco of Winthrop. Dear brother of Michelle McDonough of Lynn. Cherished grandfather of Emily, Grace, Olivia, Charlotte, Anthony, Brady, Lily and Adriana.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Monday, July 17, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at 8:45 AM followed by a funeral mass in the Most Blessed Sacrament Church 11 Grove St., Wakefield at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private.
