Matthew B. Cascio

Matthew B. Cascio of Pond St., Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on June 9, 2018. He was 86 years old. Born in Boston he was the beloved son of the late Josephine and John Cascio. He grew up in Somerville graduating from Somerville High School. After graduating he went to barber school and worked as a barber until his retirement. He was also a member of the National Guard.

He was the devoted husband of the late Mafalda (Curzi) and the loving father of John Cascio and his wife Arlene, Matthew Cascio, Jr., Diane Cascio, Carolanne Howe, Tina Mills and her husband David, John Zampanti and his wife Nancy, Joseph Zampanti and his wife Trudy and Diane Barzykowski and her husband Al. Dear brother of Carmella Leopold and the late Raymond Cascio. Also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow the mass in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
