David Burns Obituary

David Burns of Winthrop passed away at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital on January 15, 2024. He was 80 years old. Born in Malden, he was the beloved son of the late Mary (Sullivan) and John T. Burns, Sr. A resident of Winthrop for over 50 years, he enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War reaching the rank of Airman First Class. After his honorable discharge he went on to work as a network administrator for the State of Massachusetts. He was also a member of the American Legion.

He was the devoted husband of the late Carol (DeNapoli) and the loving father of Christopher Burns and his wife Alison of Bridgewater and Jonathan Burns and his wife Allison Flintoff of Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of Caileen, Francis and Caroline. David was also the last of nine brother's and sister's.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:00 to 10:30 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with military honors in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
