David E. Lessard

David Ernest Lessard, a respected police lieutenant and cherished member of the Winthrop community, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2024. Born in Boston on March 12, 1955, to Ernest and Muriel Lessard, David remained a lifelong resident of Winthrop, Massachusetts, dedicating his life to his family and community.

David is survived by his loving wife, Karen Connolly of Everett, with whom he shared countless cherished moments and a beautiful family. Together, they raised four children: Kristina, David Jr. and his wife Alyson, Andrea, and Michael. David was a proud and doting grandfather to Emerson and David III, who brought immense joy and light into his life.

In his professional life, David served with honor and distinction on the Winthrop Police Department for over 40 years, retiring as a lieutenant. His dedication to public service and commitment to safety left a lasting impact on the community he served so faithfully.

David's passion extended beyond his professional duties; he was also a life member of the Winthrop Yacht Club. Serving twice as Commodore and spending over six years on the board of directors, David’s leadership and enthusiasm helped shape the club into a vibrant community hub. In addition, he was a member of the Winthrop Lodge of Elks.

David is also survived by his siblings Mary and her husband Charles, Richard and his wife Jane, Kathryn, Nancy and her husband Patrick, Linda and her husband Mark, and Donna, as well as many nieces and nephews. His extended family and numerous friends will remember him as a man of integrity, kindness, and unwavering support.

David’s legacy is one of profound commitment—to his family, his profession, and his community. Those who knew him will recall his gentle spirit, his firm resolve, and his generous heart.

David Ernest Lessard’s memory will forever be a beacon of dedication and love in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace, having left the world a better place through his presence and service.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
