Ernest G. Maylor Jr. of Winthrop, Ma, formerly of East Boston passed away peacefully on January 22, 2024 at the age of 95. He was surrounded by family. Ernie was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Betty) LeBlanc for 69 years, devoted father of Paul and wife Lisa, Peter, and Andrew and wife Paula. Cherished cousin of John and Terry Maylor. Pre-deceased by brother Robert Lewis Maylor. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Kellie, Kenny, Brianna, Alexis, Kirsten, Marina, Tiana, Austin, and Vanessa. Also by 5 great grandchildren.
Ernie served in the U.S. Navy, and subsequently went to Newman Preparatory School after which he attended The Fisher School (now Fisher College) and the Industrial Technical School in Boston where he studied engineering. This led him to acquire a job at the Department of Public Works where he spent 38 years as a civil engineer. Upon retiring, Ernie began to further enjoy his passion for Golf. He spent many a day at the Winthrop Golf Club with his buddies and won numerous trophies. Along with family and friends, Ernie will fondly be remembered by many.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude with the interment with military honors in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
