Frederick M. Massaro, Sr. passed on October 2, 2023 at eighty-nine years old with his family by his side at his home in Peabody. Born and raised in East Boston and residing most of his life in Winthrop, and at Seal Harbor from 1983. Fred was a contractor, developer and philanthropist. He volunteered for almost fifty years at the Don Orione Nursing Home and Madonna Queen National Shrine in East Boston where he also served as Chairman, head of the building committee and selected “Man of the Year” in 2002. Fred was active in many charities including the Crossroads Family Shelter. Fred was also a fifty-year member at the Lynn YMCA. He served a longstanding member of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts.
A Boston sports fan all his life, Fred especially loved the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed summers with his family on the lakes in New Hampshire at Rocky Ledge Shores and winters at The Oceanage in Fort Lauderdale.
Fred is survived by his wife, Marian (DiFlumeri) and his children; Denise A. Silvaggio and her husband Leonard of North Reading, Frederick Massaro and his wife Elaine of Middleton and Michael Massaro and his wife Mary Jo of Marblehead. Dear brother of Anthony Massaro of Winchester and the late Marie Barrasso. Cherished grandfather of Matthew, Christopher, Stephen, Deidre, Marissa and Erika. Great grandfather to CJ Silvaggio. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
