John F. McQuillan

John F. McQuillan, Sr. of Winthrop passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on August 3, 2023. He was 90 years old. Born in Boston, he was the beloved son of the late Hellen (Mulloy) and Thomas McQuillan. A long-time resident of Winthrop, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War reaching the rank of PFC. After his honorable discharge he went on to work for the United States Postal Service.

He was the devoted husband of Kathleen M. "Kay" (Platt) and the loving father of John F., Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of Cambridge, Laurie E. McQuillan of Winthrop and Jupiter, Florida and the late James E. McQuillan. Cherished grandfather of Tess and Gwyneth.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in Winthrop Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Massachusetts General Hospital for their kindness and compassion.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
