Marie P. (Benincasa) Gauthier

Marie P. Gauthier of Winthrop and formerly of the North End passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on March 27, 2024. She was 84 years old. Born in the North End of Boston, she was the beloved daughter of the late Antoinette (Staffieri) and Michael Benincasa.
 
Marie was a devoted Catholic. She worked for years as the Secretary/Office Admin/Manager for St. Leonard's Church until she moved to Winthrop.  Her love and devotion to/for her parish was shown in raising funds to support the church through raffles, bazaars and as member of the Annual Reunion Committee and St. Anthony Festival.  Whether it be gathering donations, writing letters, even frying steak and sausages, Marie was always available to support the church.
 
Marie moved to Winthrop with her family over 28 years ago and started to work for the Trial court until her retirement at the age of 72.

She was the devoted wife of the late Leonard G. Gauthier and the loving mother of Patti Gauthier of Winthrop. Dear sister of the late Theresa Benincasa. Also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at 9:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. Leonard's Church 320 Hanover St., Boston at 10:00 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
