Michael G. DeGregorio

Michael Gerard DeGregorio of Winthrop, Massachusetts passed away on March 25, 2021 surrounded by his family, at the age of 73, after courageously living with Parkinson's disease for many years. He was the cherished and devoted son of the late Geraldine (Gambale) DeGregorio and Pasquale DeGregorio. He was the proud and beloved father of Susie (DeGregorio) Douyotas and her husband Robert Douyotas of Winthrop. He was the adored grandfather to Brooke Douyotas. Michael was the cherished big brother to Richard DeGregorio of Winthrop and Patrick DeGregorio of Lynnfield. Michael leaves behind Susie’s mother, Jane DeGregorio of Winthrop. Michael also leaves behind his former wife Claudia DeGregorio of Byfield and his step daughters Briana DiBenedetto of North Reading and Susan Licciardi of North Andover. Michael also leaves behind many dear friends and extended family.

Michael attended Winthrop High School, and then he went on to earn a bachelor's degree at Westfield State and a master's degree at the University of New Mexico. Professionally, Michael was a talented and beloved teacher in Winthrop. He then managed Baystate Adhesive in Salem for many years. He also worked as a real estate agent in Florida. Michael was previously a member of the Salem Rotary Club, the Winthrop Golf Club, the Winthrop Yacht Club,  and the Ould Newbury Golf Club. Michael loved to golf and ski. He loved music and dancing and had an impressive record collection. He also loved sweet treats. Michael was friendly, kind and thoughtful man, with an an adorable smile and laugh.

Michael’s family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to Winthrop PACE, The Parc at Harbor View (formerly the Arbors), East Pointe Rehabilitation, and Massachusetts General Hospital for the tender care that they provided to Michael and the support that they provided to Susie. Family and friends are cordially invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM.
