Philip J. Dawson, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tennessee and formerly of Winthrop passed away at home on December 17, 2023. He was 68 years old. Born in Winthrop, he was the beloved son of the late Mary T. (Spillane) and Philip J. Dawson, Sr. A resident of Chattanooga for many years, he worked as a truck driver prior to his retirement.
Dear brother of Margaret “Peggy” Bayliss, of Calais, ME, Paul Dawson and wife Joy of Rochester, MA, Sandra M. Dawson of Revere, MA and the late Pamela M. Dawson and Daniel P. Dawson. Loving uncle of Sarah Seelye and husband Nick of Calais, ME, Elizabeth Brownell and her beautiful son Lucas of RI, Alexandra Merfeld and husband John of Brighton, Ryan Bayliss and partner Mary of Pembroke, ME, and Matt Brownell and wife Carly of New York. Great uncle of Hannah and Manny of Calais, ME. Phil is also survived by Bobby Green and fiance Kathi Wagner and the beautiful Kiera Green who was the center of Phil's universe.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Saturday, December 23, 2023 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in the Belle Isle section of Winthrop Cemetery.
