Richard J. Clancy of Winthrop, MA passed away unexpectedly on May 3, 2023. He was 55 years old. Born in Gloucester, MA he was the beloved son of the late Robert W. Clancy and Nancy Clancy. He was predeceased by his brother Robert Clancy, Jr. and is survived by his two daughters Imogen Clancy, Iris Clancy, ex-wife Angeline Clancy, sister Laura Drigo,
Gary Drigo, Mackenzie Drigo, stepmother Suzanne McHutchison and stepsisters Jennifer Koopmans and Heather McHutchison. Rick graduated from Thayer Academy and went on to Boston College. After graduation Rick spent his career working as Vice President & Financial Advisor at Morgan Stanley in Boston.
Rick “Clance” was truly the jack of all trades. He tinkered with nearly everything he could get his hands on. He used his knowledge to benefit others around him. He was on speed dial for friends and family and would show up to help anyone. You could often find him in someone's backyard or garage fixing holes in small dinghy sailboats to power washing homes, tuning skis, rebuilding patios or giving financial advice. The stories are endless on how selfless of an individual he was and how far he would go to help others. He was also a member of the Cottage Park Yacht Club in Winthrop where he contributed as a Board Member for the Youth Sailing Program and donated his time and fundraising efforts for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
In addition to being an amazing friend, he was an even more amazing father to his two daughters Imogen and Iris. Rick brought enormous joy to their lives and created lasting memories through camping and skiing adventures as well as visits with their grandparents in Maine and Cape Cod.
Rick loved his family and friends and brought joy to so many. He would often tell his daughters that, “the only things you really regret in life are the ones that you don’t do.” Rick’s ethos was just this - leave no stone unturned and although he was taken from us too soon he lived with passion, joy and a huge heart.
Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the Funeral Home on Thursday, May 11 from 4 pm - 8pm. Funeral Service to be held in the funeral home on Friday, May 12 at 11am. Services will conclude with the interment in the Cross Street section of Winthrop Cemetery.
