Thomas Serra Obituary

Thomas A. Serra, Jr. of St. Andrew Rd., East Boston passed away at the West Roxbury VA on September 2, 2020. He was 80 years old. Born in East Boston he was the beloved son of the late Lillian (Quartarone) and Thomas A. Serra, Sr. A resident of East Boston and Winthrop he was a graduate of Boston English High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, reaching the rank of SP4. After his honorable discharge he went on to worked for Eastern Airlines for the fleet services department. He also worked at the Massachusetts Turnpike. He was a standout football player in the East Boston Sandlot League and became Sandlot Player of the Year. He was a longtime member of the Winthrop Golf Club and a member of Survivors by the Sea.

He was the devoted husband of the late Norma (Ramirez) and the loving father of Nadeen Moretti and her husband Rich of Medford, Thom Serra and his wife Kristen of Andover and Natalie Bayersdorfer and her husband Brad of Winthrop. He was the dear brother of Marilyn Pacillo of Reading and the late Lorraine Bono. Cherished grandfather of Richie, Mia, Noah, Lily, Ryan and Elyse. He is survived my many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family and friends are cordially invited to attend the visitation from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM followed by a funeral mass in St. John the Evangelist Church 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 11:30 AM. Services will conclude with the interment in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

*Attendees must wear masks & maintain social distancing in the Funeral Home, Church and Cemetery*
