I am sorry to hear of the loss of Alex. I read about it in today's (08/14/16) Boston Globe. My Dad and I both worked for Lesley Collage back in the early 70's and that is where I got know Alex. I remember his sense of humor. I remember my Dad and I along with some coworkers re-shingled the back of his house on Grovers Ave back in 1973. I also remember being up on a ladder on the back of the house re-shingling the day of the "Great' Chelsea fire in Oct. 1973. I also remember being taken by one of the Revere Beach games (scams) and Alex describing in detail how the rigged game worked.....LOL. Although I hadn't seen Alex in many years, I do have good memories of him. May he R.I.P.

Dr Alexanian was a true advocate and champion for children. He was a close friend and ally to me when afterschool programs were being presented to the Winthrop School Committee for consideration to keep school doors open after the bell, in order to expand learning opportunities and to support working families. Dr. Alexanian was a man ahead of his time in his vision for children. He was brilliant and astute. And in the same breathe of thought, he was caring, kind and compassionate in his delivery of service. When hearing of his passing, I felt the pain of a loss of a man who was a significant influence on my life. Thank you, Dr. Alexanian for your contribution on this earth. ~Debbie

Alex was a great resource person for me, personally, and for his special kids. He was a true asset to the Reading School system, and more importantly a true friend and
mentor . Alex will always have a special place in my heart.

It was with extreme sadness that I learned of Alex's passing. He was a true mentor and friend . Our days at Dearborn Academy were some of the best in my teaching career. He will be sorely missed . Rest in peace my friend. Joe

I had the great pleasure of knowing Alex as a colleague but more importantly as a friend. He was one of the smartest people I have ever known and I remember the first time I met him I called him Doctor Alexanian and his response was my name is Alex there is no Doctor on my birth certificate - that was Alex. There are certain people you meet in life that have a lasting impression and for me Alex was right up at the top of the list. My condolences to all members of Alex's family. We have all lost a dear dear friend.
