To the Grimes family, I am expressing my condolences to you. I was a teammate of Peter's at UMASS. He was a great friend and a great teammate. I could tell he had greatness both on the court and as a person. He went on to a great career as an educator and coach that affected so many that he came in contact with. God bless all his family and friends. Sincerely, David Dibble

Mr. Grimes, as I will always call him, was one of my eighth grade teachers over 20 years ago. He is fondly remembered as a talented teacher, comedian and most importantly as an example of how to be a gentleman. As I am unable to make the wake, I want to extend my sympathy to family and friends on this loss; a loss felt by many who were lucky to know him.

I shared several wondrous childhood years with Peter, Alicia and little DJ, living in the newly constructed Woodvale section of Danvers. Don and Ruth Grimes had moved their young family to the top of Sherwood Avenue, and we all became fast friends. We flew kites, rode our bikes and played baseball behind Dr. MacDonald’s red barn. Peter was a natural athlete and sparkled in Danvers Little League with the Orioles. Thanks to Art Spinney, we sat on the bench when the Boston Patriots played an exhibition game at Salem State. Stars vs. Stripes. Peter wore Baltimore Colts gear. Pads, helmet and jersey. He probably could have taken a few live snaps if they let eight year olds on the field. Then one day, the Grimes family moved away. I never had a chance to say goodbye, but I never forgot him. Never forgot his friendship – he was my first real pal. And I will always be grateful for the times we spent together many Summers ago.
God bless you, Peter. And may God hold your family in the palm of His Hand.

Thoughts and condolences to Peter's brothers, sister, Julie, Jen, Jill, Micaela, Catherine and Norah. Always remember the good man Peter was and not the disease which took his kindness and understanding from him. Peter touched many lives and the world is a better place because of him. Soon you will see Peter left some of his goodness with each of you and along with his memory you will have it always.

Norah and Family, I only just recently heard about Peter and his Alzheimer's. So you can imagine I was devastated to hear of his passing so quickly after I found out. Peter was a wonderful teacher when I was in Middle school(1983). I watched Peter coach basketball for years in intermural and the summer leagues down the Center Courts. He put his heart and soul into everything he did and was amazing to watch. He is a great man that will be truly missed by many. My condolences to you all.

Kelli Hebert

Norah and Family, I was so sorry to hear of Peter's passing. He was a one of a kind person. It was a pleasure working with him at WHS. He appreciated anything and everything that I would do for him as a co-worker. I missed him after he retired as he was the joy that he brought to the Guidance Department with both the students and the overall atmosphere. He took pride in the students, both as a Guidance Counselor and a Coach. May you know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. R.I.P. Peter
